History

The Graduate Institute of Electro-Optical Science and Technology (IEO) at NTNU provided the M.S. Program in 2001 under the College of Science. Then the Ph.D. Program was started in 2005. IEO provides courses for students committed to the research of both theoretical and applied photonics. The curriculum includes four required courses and more than sixty non-required ones. Two main research fields are included: (1) Photonic materials, devices, and systems,(2) Bio-nano-medicine and medical images.

The goal of Institute of Electro-Optical Science and Technology (IEO) at National Taiwan Normal University is training up the excellent manpower for optoelectronics industry. The two main missions are as below:Optoelectronics Material, Devices, and System Optoelectronic Materials and Components, Photovoltaics, Optical System Design, Optical Information Processing, Display Technology, Organic devices, …etc. Nano-Biomedicine & Medical Imaging-Bioplasmonics, Biophysics, Biomedical Photonics, Bio-magnetism, Bio-sensor and Bio-instrument, Magnetic-Nano reagent and targeting technology, Magnetic-Nano assay, diagnosis, imaging and hyperthermia technology, Low‐field MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), Imaging of Magnetocardiogram, Imaging of Magnetoencephalography and brain science…etc.

Now, the industry is promoted to high intelligence and integration, our development trend is closer to industry and make our research practicability. We are focusing on innovation research in Bio-optoelectronics, Photovoltaics, as well as the Nanoscale Bio-engineering, Bio-Image, and Optical Information for unique characteristic.
